Use the Interactive Map or Text-Based Advanced Search to research information from the Boards Database
USING THE “INTERACTIVE MAP”
Click on interactive map (This will take you to the “Public Higher Education Boards Database”)
To research all board attributes for a particular state, use the map to click on the state of your choice. Once you do so, all attribute information will appear in html format.
If your browser is not flash-enabled or if you would like to look at more than one state in the same search, you may click on text-based advanced search.
USING THE “TEXT-BASED ADVANCED SEARCH”
1. Click on text-based advanced search (This will take you to the “Advanced Search for Boards Database”)
2. When you come to the option to “Select a particular state to view or select all states,” leave the default setting "State (all)".
3. Next, you will have the option to “Select boards that have the following attributes,” do not check any boxes. (Leave all boxes unchecked).
4. You will then have the option to sort by “State”, “Total Board Members”, or “Voting Board Members.” For viewing the database in its entirety, we recommend sorting by “State”.
5. For the final step, you have option to view the database as a “Webpage” or “Excel” file.
6. After you click on either “Webpage” or “Excel File,” your request may take a few seconds to process.

2. When you come to the option to “Select a particular state to view or select all states,” click on the state(s) of your choice. (To select more than one state, hold down the control key while clicking states. You can choose as many states as you would like).
3. Next, you will have the option to “Select boards that have the following attributes.” Check the box(es)/attributes you are researching. (Note: if you select an attribute that does not apply to the state(s) and/or board(s) you have selected, your search will not yield informative results).
4. You will then have the option to sort by “State”, “Total Board Members”, or “Voting Board Members,”
5. For the final step, you have option to view the database as a “Webpage” or “Excel” file.
6. After you click on either “Webpage” or “Excel File,” your request may take a few seconds to process.
